Mirsini Beach
Mirsini Beach sits on Diaporos island, about a 10-minute boat ride from Vourvourou. It's one of the quieter beaches in the island complex, shaded by pine trees, with water that shifts from deep blue to clear turquoise within a few metres of the shore.
There's no road access — you can only reach it by boat, which keeps it relatively uncrowded even in August. It's a good first stop for an early swim before heading on to the Blue Lagoon, especially if you arrive before the day-trip boats
Diaporos Island
Diaporos is the largest and best-known of the nine islands facing Vourvourou. Its interior forms "Kryfto," a natural bay around 700 metres long, almost fully enclosed by land and one of the most photographed spots in Halkidiki.
The island also holds the ruins of an early Christian church dedicated to Saint Andrew, a sign the area held religious significance as far back as the early Byzantine period. With a licence-free rental boat, you reach Diaporos in minutes from Vourvourou and choose your own stops, rather than following a set tour route.
Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is the narrow channel between Diaporos and the small island of Agios Isidoros, roughly 15 minutes by boat from Vourvourou. Shallow water and a sandy seabed produce the most intense turquoise in the whole island complex — which is why almost every passing boat stops here for a swim.
Much of the lagoon is shallow, so it's easy to anchor even in a small, licence-free boat, and it suits families with children well. It gets busy around midday in summer, so for a quieter visit, aim for early morning or late afternoon.
Agios Andreas
Agios Andreas is a quiet spot within the Diaporos complex, known for its small namesake beach and the ruins of an early Christian church dedicated to the Apostle Andrew. Its history suggests the area was a place of pilgrimage centuries ago.
Today it's one of the calmest places to swim, away from the busier Blue Lagoon — a good choice if you want a little solitude during a day out on the water.
